I’ve just spent the evening in the bureaucratic nightmare that is filling out forms to go to Japan.

1. There are seven forms.
2. All forms must be printed single-sided.  (The dorm printers only do duplex printing, so you have to go to the library.)
3. One form needs a parent’s signature if you are under twenty-one.
4. Include twelve photos of yourself, in sizes ranging from 2”x2” to… 40mm by 30mm.
5. In a plastic bag, because all students keep plastic bags in their room, obviously.
6. The file format allows you to type on the form, but not save it, so you have to do the entire thing in one sitting.  Unless you want to print out the form and write on it.
7. Although two of the forms must be typed.

So I spent my Saturday evening at the library doing paperwork.
