You guys get to go wherever you want, no one telling you what to do… that’s the life. It’s just not my life.
THE END.

Have I mentioned how much I love “The Blind Bandit”? Because I do.
It’s hilarious and introduces my favorite character. What more could I want?
The contrast between Aang and Toph is brilliant, the kid who’s traveled the world yet remains bright and optimistic compared to the one who is sheltered but cynical. Aang believes that everyone deserves to live and be happy, and he looks at Toph and sees someone who is trapped and miserable. And he sees the one thing her parents can’t, how strong she is. And he becomes her first friend. And then she rescues him.
Also featured: Katara scaring the living daylights out of some random dudes on the street who happened to pick on the wrong bald kid.

In my rewatch I just got to “The Library” and I would like to direct your attention to the fact that Toph (pictured, below, the tiny blind girl)

temporarily stops an entire building from sinking into the desert

despite the fact that her powers (including her perception) are limited by the fact that she’s surrounded by sand, which she can’t bend as well

so she improvises

and this is, by the way

a huge building (and full of books)

and then

against an attacker she cannot see and can barely sense she tries to fight back

while still supporting the library

because her friends are still inside

she loses Appa (and is really upset about it)

but she holds this entire building long enough for Aang, Sokka, Katara, and Momo to get out safely
Toph is so awesome
